The art of Matte Painting

This intensive course has been designed to give you all the knowledge you need to enter the industry as a Digital Matte Artist. The main software you will learn is Adobe Photoshop, however this is not a course just to show you how the software works. Our program is designed to teach you the techniques and procedures that are used in real production environments of real projects.

All our tutors are members of Yafka studios and other world class 3D and VFX facilities.

This course give you the opportunity to learn in depth and exercise skills on a professional level.

• Bit Depth And Image Information.
• LOG LINEAR Conversion and LUTs.
• Open EXR and DPX files. Basic Colour Theory. Photoshop Colour Settings
• Matte Painting Basic Rules!
• Light! – The Crucial Element! “Aziz! Light! Much Better Aziz!”
• Don’t be Afraid of The Shadows.
• Perspective. Scale. Depth and Dimensionality!.
• Basic Introduction to The Use Of Photographs and Reference Images.
• Tips on shooting for Matte Painting and 3D projections!

Approximately 3 weeks, 3 days per week , 3 hours each day.

Everybody over the age of 17 with a basic knowledge of using Windows.
A one to one interview will be taken with all candidates, priority will be given to those that have a true passion on the subject.

Intermediate users are advised to apply in one of our short courses.
